Last Saturday night Sam and I went to Atlantic Fish for our traditional Valentine’s Day dinner. I originally was going to wear the outfit in this post, but with all of the recent snow (16+”) I knew heels and a skirt were not a good choice. I needed to wear something warmer but still festive for the holiday. That’s when I looked in my closet and pulled out this fuchsia pink dress. It was perfect for Valentine’s Day and I immediately felt “pretty in pink”.
I purchased this pink dress last year and actually wore it last time we were in Mexico with tan wedges. The material is a little thicker but can comfortably be worn in summer without tights or in winter with them.
One of the biggest challenges many of us face in New England is how to dress up (and still feel stylish) in winter. Instead of buying all new, work with what you have. Take a look at some of your summer pieces and ask yourself if you can wear it with a pair of black tights (I love these Spanx ones because they actually last!) or over a light turtleneck sweater. Long cardigan sweaters can be taken up a notch by adding a skinny belt around the waist. Fall booties are also great to wear out in winter (stilletos, not so much) as you have a little more support with the block heel (and covered toes).
What are some of your favorite ways to dress up in winter?
