I would definitely call myself a beauty product lover and collector. I love trying new products and Sephora is a place I could spend hours asking to try samples and experiment with different looks. Lately I’ve been on a serious skincare/face mask kick as I have reached the age where I care less about how tan I am and more about how to properly care for my skin and prevent wrinkles. I’ve read more and more about the importance of using less chemicals and instead, using more products with natural ingredients. Another skincare lover (my coworker) first told me about the Drunk Elephant brand and I’m SO happy she did. When I looked it up online I read it only uses clean, non-toxic ingredients. All of their products are made without parabens, synthetic or natural fragrances, phthalates, dyes, sulfates, silicones or chemical screens. This was the exact brand I was looking for – something my skin needed and craved. I first purchased the Lala Retro Whipped Cream moisturizer and loved it so much, I knew I needed more from Drunk Elephant.
This brings me to the most amazing mask I’ve ever used. Now, a typical Friday night for me consists of a quick dinner (usually takeout with my husband after a long work week), a movie and a face mask. With 52 Fridays a year, you can bet I’ve tried many different masks. My same coworker told me about Sukari Babyfacial and how she saw an immediate glow and change in her skin after just one use – I was intrigued! I looked it up online, read some amazing reviews (& how it was flying off of the shelves) and walked over to Sephora the next day. There was one Sukari Babyfacial left on the shelf so I grabbed it and asked for a sample thinking I would return the full size if I didn’t like it.
The mask is a mustard yellow color at first but turns clear as you rub it around your face. You only need 2-3 pumps unlike a clay mask where you take a small scoop and massage around your face. About a minute later I felt a light tingling around my face and thought my skin might be having some sort of reaction. I then remembered my coworker mentioning the tingling so I let it be and it went away within a minute or two. The instructions say to leave the mask on for 20 minutes but I by accident lost track of time and left it on for 30 minutes. My skin looked a little pink (after all, this is a 25% AHA and 2% BHA mask) but it went away shortly after I rinsed my face with warm water.
My skin IMMEDIATELY looked clearer, brighter and healthier. All masks will make your skin feel smooth afterwards, but not like this one. My skin was literally baby smooth. My other coworker had gone to Sephora with me and tried a sample last Friday night as well. Her reaction sums up this post:
This product has most definitely earned itself a permanent spot in my skincare routine, even at the $80 price tag. Skincare to me is worth almost any dollar amount (within reason, of course). Personally, I’d rather spend more money on high quality skincare than on very expensive clothing. Clothing and styles go in and out, but your skin is part of you forever.
I am also a huge animal lover and have decided that moving forward, I will only purchase cruelty free skincare products. I hope to eventually only purchase all items (makeup, hair products, household cleaning products, etc) that are cruelty free, but baby steps for now. Drunk Elephant is a cruelty free brand (they do not test any of their products on animals) so therefore, I am most definitely a dedicated DE fan for life.
Lastly, this post is NOT sponsored by Drunk Elephant. I was honestly so just amazed at the immediate results, my first instinct was to write a blog post about it. I highly recommend you go to your local Sephora and ask for a sample – you will love it!
