If you were to step in our shoes one weekday morning, you would quickly discover our mornings are a bit hectic. Sam usually leaves for work just before 7am and I’m not too far after him. We usually hit snooze at least once so when it comes to dressing for work, comfort is key. We of course still want to look stylish, so when we discovered Ministry of Supply, we knew we would be dedicated customers.
Do you ride your bike to work or take public transportation? I used to take public transportation when we lived in the city and I can tell you there’s almost nothing worse than being packed like sardines on the subway – especially in the summer. Sweating through your work shirt before the workday even begins is one of the worst feelings. During the day Sam and I are both active at our jobs so comfort and durable clothing is exactly what we need. Ministry of Supply offers “performance clothes for the workday”. Their clothing is designed to last throughout the day, making you look fresh and well groomed during all hours.
When I first received the Easier Than Silk shirt, I fell in love with the fabric. It’s incredibly soft and you can tell right away it’s wrinkle resistant (yes, no more ironing or steaming during those busy mornings!). The fit is true to size (I’m wearing a small) and the shirt feels so lightweight and buttery smooth. I could easily move around and didn’t notice one wrinkle throughout the entire day. An added bonus? The Easier Than Silk shirts are machine washable and come in four colors!
Like many working women, I like to switch up my look and wear button downs some days and tee’s with a blazer other days. The Luxe Touch Tee is my new favorite “casual” shirt. I can’t wait to wear it in the spring and summer as the fabric feels weightless against my skin. I’ve always been a fan of the crewneck (especially for work) and this top also has longer sleeves (work appropriate – no need to wear a cardigan or blazer with it unless you choose to!).
Ministry of Supply also has an extensive men’s section from dress shirts, pants, blazers, sweaters and polos to accessories. Does the man in your life have to dress up for work? Sam’s office is a little more casual (he doesn’t wear a suit to work), but he loves the short sleeve polos and the future forward dress shirts (comes in 7 colors and in slim or standard fit). He’s always struggled with sweat and size as he’s 6’3″ but on the slimmer size. After discovering Ministry of Supply’s shirts, he will never wear a stiff cotton shirt again.
If your looking for work clothing that is smooth, fits well and is wrinkle and sweat resistant then check out Ministry of Supply. For any of you in the Boston area, check out their location on Newbury Street (all other locations here).
As Fortune magazine says, “Looks like J.Crew, but performs like Nike.” (read more here). Want to try one of their tops yourself? The Styled Suburbian readers get 15% off their first purchase with code Ministry4Suburbian through 4/30. Enjoy!
